Updates

Construction continues at Sheyenne and the countdown to registration and the first day of school has begun!!  Included in the pictures with this entry are the new student entrance from the northwest parking lot and a downstairs classroom.  All of the classrooms in the math and science area on the first floor are equipped with Active Boards.  Companies are beginning to move equipment into the classrooms on both first and second floor.

It is going to be a little messy when we have you in for registration on the 13th and 14th but we should be able to set up shop in the commons and music areas.  A reminder of the times are from 11:00 – 7:00 on the 13th and from 8:00 – 4:30 on the 14th

You can see the progress on the gym and fine arts additions on the south side of the building as you travel down 40th Avenue.  The footprint of the fine arts addition is beginning to take shape.  This addition will include a 550 capacity theater with practice rooms for orchestra, band, and choir and a “black box” for theater practice.  On the west side of the building walls for the gym expansion are going up.

Construction and Activities Update

Construction continues on both the north and south ends of the building. I have included a picture of one of the new access points for students.  This entry will be used for students that park in the north end of the east parking lot.

For an interesting look at the entire Liberty and Sheyenne campus, take a drive up 7th Street on the west side of the pond and practice football fields.  Some areas on the baseball and softball fields needed to be reseeded but irrigation is currently running on all of our fields and they should fill in soon.

Our Sheyenne sophomore football players are involved in a seven-on-seven league and doing well.  This group is also lifting and will host a Sheyenne Football Camp on July 15-18.  The volleyball group is working Tuesday evenings at WFHS and Thursday mornings at Sheyenne.  There will be a Sheyenne Volleyball Camp on July 29-31.  The girls basketball team has been working skills and fundamentals Monday and Wednesday mornings at Sheyenne.  They are also scheduled to attend a few team camps.  The boys basketball group is working skills and fundamentals on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Sheyenne and involved in team camps as well.

Construction Updates

The partitions between the existing structure and the academic addition have been removed and the transition between surfaces is almost complete.  Students in the building will recognize the view second floor as one of the pictures looks north into the academic addition.  The majority of the second floor classrooms are near completion.  Most just need the installation of a countertop and ceiling projector.  Lockers have been installed on both floors and second floor is very close to having carpet installed in the hallways.
The majority of freshmen will remain housed in our original
building.  The class of 2017 in WFPS will be over 600 students so
some classes will be forced to be held in the academic addition
.  All freshmen will remain on academic teams with their core
classes being held in the team area that houses their locker.  This
will allow for collaboration between staff members as they work
on shared activities as well as engage in conversations regarding
the academic success of students.  There will STEM teams for both
freshmen and sophomores students.  These teams will have an
increased number of shared activities and projects as the
freshmen team will have their time with their World Geography
teacher increased to a full year.

Introduction

Greetings from Sheyenne High School, home of the Mustangs!  My name is Greg Grooters and I am thrilled to have been selected as the principal to lead the expansion from a ninth grade center to a comprehensive high school.  We have a great staff at Sheyenne and we have made some nice additions this spring to lead some of our new programs as well as assemble a staff to serve our sophomore population.

The construction that you see on our site is evidence of the commitment to education that is present in the West Fargo School District.  Our academic addition on the north end will add roughly 100,000 square feet to our existing 130,000 square foot structure.  This will boost our estimated capacity from 600 to 1,500 students.  Included in this addition are specialized spaces that will allow West Fargo Public School students to enroll in CISCO, and Health Career classes that are offered in the district.
